Sad day for the Mckever Group
It is with sad news to report that the Mckever hotel group has gone into administration with estimated debts of £100,000,000. The firm based in Glasgow is another victim of the credit crunch. The group formed in 1982 and employee more than 550 people in 20 hostels, apartments and hotels across in the north of England and across Scotland.
The group has said to be deeply concerned at the deep impact it may well have on homeless residents who depend on their flats and hostels in the Glasgow area and beyond.
Circulating news states that the Glasgow hotel group may still be able to remain operative but the future of the hostels is in serious doubt. The administrators are running the business whilst they exuast every avenue to keep the business running. The website is still operational and taken bookings.

Today’s post is going to be concentrating on the city of Nottingham, with its great tourist attractions, theaters, art galleries museums and Hotels Nottingham is a lively city that is always buzzing, best known for Robin Hood and Nottingham Castle, the great thing about Nottingham is that there is a lot more to this city than the above and today we are going to give a little info on the Green’s Windmill and Science Centre.Way back in the in the year 1807 the scientist and mathematician George Greens father built the Green’s Windmill. Unfortunately in 1947 – 140 years after the windmill was built, it was badly damaged by fire and almost destroyed, thankfully Nottingham city council restored the old windmill to its former glory in the 1980’s and the windmill was in full working order by the year 1986 and is now a top tourist attraction as a popular science centre and museum, the science centre now teaches scores of generations the important work of George Green.
George greens work has allowed scientists of today to understand the world around us a little more easier than we would have had done had he not developed new ways of understanding mathematics, Test your brain power with the hands-on experiments in the Science Centre which explore electricity, magnetism and light, ideal for young children.
If you are traveling for a holiday break of any kind then you won’t be disappointed by the accommodation on offer either, There are many great Nottingham Hotels for you to choose from.

Micro-blogging/Social Networking website Twitter and its community seem to be ubiqutuous these days. Whether its President Obama or Lance Armtrong, Twitter seems to be making the headlines every day. For any of you out there who have not came across it so far, Twitter is a site that allows users to provide updates on their current activities via their mobile phone or computer. They can do this by either posting links or using plain text updates, as long as its done in under 140 characters. Users can post updates on anything they like, and what is so powerful about Twiiter is that it enables you to connect with like-minded people - when you are in the community you can choose to 'follow' and recive updates from anyone of particular interest to you.
There are almost no topics which are not covered by the Twitter community. Of course, here at Hotels in the UK, we are most interested in Hotels and Travel Twitter - and there are plenty of options to choose from. As an example, if you travelling to London via public transport and you want the latest information public transport , the BBC and London Travel have the latest information on their Twitter pages, UKseries offers travel news and information. You can even discover which heathrow airport hotels would suit your trip to the capitals busiest airport.
After you have signed up, the best place to start is the search page, enter your topic and start following people, and if you’ve got anything to contribute get invlolved in the community and get tweeting.
But with the recession looming can the Scottish hotels keep ahead of the rest. The future is unclear and scary to be honest but there is 2 sides of the coin here, on one side we have the fear of the recession, people out of work and therefor not being able to have luxury weekend trips away and of coarse there will be less conferences but on a more positive note you have the week pound which is not a very good thing but it could attract more foreign tourists to our great city, All my life I have been able to travel to Europe and exchange some money for more money but now it looks like the corner has turned and I think - and hope we will see a large increase in the numbers of European tourists swapping some money for more money by coming here to visit and stay in a Hotel Glasgow.
If you’ve ever been lucky enough to visit the city, you will instantly recognise this hotel in Manchester. It is an iconic North West of England building. A comprehensive £18 million refurbishment programme is almost complete and has sensitively transformed this Manchester icon. Renamed the Ramada Manchester Piccadilly, the hotel is the newest and largest Ramada hotel in Britain.
It is not just the exterior of the Piccadilly that has been altered. Each of its 280 bedrooms now boast a fresh contemporary style, with flat screen LCD TVs, broadband internet, movies on-demand and music jukebox now standard. There is also a brand new Arts Bar and Grill serving modern cuisine in fresh and friendly new surroundings. An international conference suite is also available, which can hold up to 700 delegates as well as 10 well appointed new conference rooms.
Overall, this comprehensive redevelopment has ensured that this Iconic Manchester Hotel will remain a favourite of our for years to come.

hotels in Newton Park had interesting things in the area
So, I am being dragged to the Ramada Newton Park hotel in Burton, Stafforshire, in a few weeks to keep someone company. I needed to find something to do, as the internet has destroyed my attention span causing me to get bored very easily.
I am a golf fan and I am young enough to enjoy a theme park; who would have thought that both a theme park and a golf course where in such close proximity to my hotel, it is as if someone planned it. *as far as I am aware it was not planned*
I can't decide on whether to turn it into a golfing break or a theme park break. Decisions...
2 for 1 makes it cheaper than most!
If your planning a break away from it all you might consider staying at a De Vere hotel, it could save you some money.
I came across an ad tell me that De Vere (a luxury hotel brand) are doing buy one night and get a second free. If you compare this with the likes of Hilton or even Thistle hotels you still manage to get the two days cheaper. I went through the sites and compared the prices for Brighton (I am planning on going there) it was significantly cheaper to stay with De Vere.
De Vere have loads of hotels all over the UK, go to devere.co.uk to check out the other hotels.
The Ramada Jarvis hotels have high speed internet access and flat screen TV's in their rooms not to mention the comfortable beds.
Have a look!
